On Being Grateful

Every day we have a new opportunity to choose to be grateful. Although not easy in today’s hurried life, we can always find something to be thankful for. In this, we can find a peace for living today and even a vision for tomorrow. American author, Melody Beattie knows this. She penned the following words: “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.” We can learn from Melody; she is a woman who knows that in optimism and thanksgiving, we can find peace and strength.
If we can all appreciate what we have been given, even it is a little, we will be surprised at how much we will find. Let’s all begin where we are, either step into being grateful or continue to be, and see where our future takes us.
